12.07.07   "FAR SIDE OF THE WORLD"

One day as I was studying in my office at Second Baptist Boise, my eye
caught the mandolin hanging on the wall. I purchased it in Romania several
months back on a tour there. The team had made some wonderful friends
on that trip and I realized that I hadn’t spoken to these friends since we left.
Lots of great memories came flooding back and I just had to pick up the
phone. I dialed and Otniel answered. “Halo?” he said. “Otniel, this is Chad”.
Our conversation began as if we had never left off. We talked about how we
met and what good times we had. We talked about the team and talked
about the places we played at. We remembered the laughter and the tears
too and how God blessed on our journeys. After our conversation it seemed
to me that the time we spent together was very much like a song. Othniel
and his wife Dana and the team all wrote this song together and we were
able to touch others through our music...and so Far Side Of The World was
born. But Far Side isn’t just about a collaboration and distance. It’s about
filling up our lives with so many things that we forget. And by the time we
remember, closest friends or family or both who might be just across the
street seem like they’re worlds apart. It can be like that with God too. That’s
where this project comes in. The fact is, God is not distant. No matter how
much space we’ve put between us, heaven is only a prayer away and like
that phone call I made to Otniel, God says hello without hesitation and
strikes up the conversation as if we had never left off. It’s my heart’s desire
that this project will remind you of that. I hope you’ll worship with it,
remembering who He is, what He’s done in your life and what He will do. And
if you don’t know this God I’m talking about, well it’s okay. He already knows
who you are. It doesn’t matter what you’ve done or where you’ve been.
Nothing can separate you from His love. Today, He is waiting for you with His
arms out wide waiting to talk. God bless you and yours. I hope to see you
soon.

With His Music,
Chad Marvin
