Caring Hearts Boarding School & Homeward Bound
We started off this morning by driving to the town of Kangundo, on the eastern outskirts—about six kilometers from Tala—to visit Caring Hearts boarding school, where Ski’s sponsored child once attended.
Angie (the one he sponsored, now 24) was waiting there for us, along with her mother, grandmother, and several others, for a warm welcome.
She had never met Ski in person before. She was so excited to finally see him, and for Ski it was the same. What an incredible moment when they saw each other face to face for the very first time! You could feel it—all those years of support and prayer coming together… beautiful, real.
Now, all grown up, Angie owns her own beauty shop in Kangundo, and she’s making it on her own, very grateful to Ski for all those years of faithful giving. What a testimony!
Proverbs 19:17 stuck with me throughout the day:
“Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed.”
Ski was steady in his giving for many years, and now the result of his faithfulness has been realized. I don’t know a lot about him, but I know this… his reward will be great in heaven!
Although school is on a two-week break, we were shown around the entire facility. We met a few students who were still there, and some staff, hearing stories, and seeing firsthand the impact that a place like Caring Hearts school has on young lives across Kenya.
After the school, we visited other Caring Hearts sites, including a hospital currently being added on to. The hospital is functional as a level one care facility, but within the next year it will become a level four facility where even major surgery can be performed. Amazing!
Tomorrow it’s homeward bound for Ski. I couldn’t get a flight out with him due to scheduling issues, so I’m leaving for Boise on Tuesday—I might brave the Maasai market once again. Travel time to the states is approximately 22 hours so I’ll be back on the ground on Wednesday.
Thank you for your support and prayer over this trip. I pray that you have an amazing week and that God blesses you on your own amazing journey!
Until next time…
